French Country Afternoon | A Limoncello-Inspired Editorial at Highlands Mansion & Gardens
There’s just something about my love of blues and yellows paired together that made me need to bring my vision to life this summer. Designing this editorial was so much fun, and felt like a nod to slow afternoons, sun-warmed stone, and the effortless elegance of French country romance. Set at the breathtaking Highlands Mansion and Gardens, the shoot blended timeless European inspiration with thoughtful, modern details — creating a scene that felt both elevated and inviting.
The color palette set the tone from the start: soft blues paired with fresh lemon yellow, layered against neutral textures and lush garden greens. It was light, cheerful, and undeniably elegant — the kind of palette that instantly transports you to an afternoon somewhere in the French countryside.
Every detail was intentionally chosen to enhance the experience. Guests were welcomed with refreshing limoncello favors. We had individual name cards styled on delicate scrolls resting atop blue glassware, a nod to old-world charm while still feeling fresh and modern. Hand-painted cookies added an artisanal feel, each one feeling more like a keepsake than a dessert.
Paired with citrus accents, linen textures, and garden florals, the tablescape felt layered and luxurious without being overdone. Highlands Mansion and Gardens provided the most stunning backdrop, with its manicured gardens, ivy-covered walls, and soft natural light, the venue effortlessly carried the mood of the shoot — refined, romantic, and timeless. A true French country afternoon!
